CBD and Yoga: A Match Made in Heaven

It’s hard for a day to go by without fresh news of CBD. Products made from the cannabis extract have been selling like hotcakes, mainly owing to cannabidiol’s vast range of uses in the medical, sports, and health and wellness communities. More and more athletes have offered their support for CBD, incorporating it into their regimens. It helps them recover from tough workouts, and makes exercising a lot more enjoyable. Last week, the USA Triathlon became the first major sports organization to welcome sponsorship from a CBD company.

Well, a new use for the versatile product has come to light; CBD and yoga. For a while, people have been using CBD to enhance and enrich their yoga sessions. Melissa Jackson, the owner of Tribe Hot Yoga, a studio in Mantua Township, Gloucester County in New Jersey, says that people come into yoga for the same reason that they turn to CBD. “People come to yoga because they’re in pain, they have stress and anxiety,” she says, “All the release that they get from their yoga practice, they can also get with CBD oil separately.”

The compound is extracted from the controversial cannabis plant. However, CBD is not responsible for the psychotropic high marijuana users experience. That honor belongs to THC (delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol). People tend to associate the two with cannabis’s high, but CBD’s strengths lie entirely elsewhere. Because of this, CBD is the only active component of marijuana whose use is legal.

The yoga class was the second one with CBD hosted by Jackson. The reaction to the sessions was so positive that she intends to hold them once a month. She uses Blue Ridge Hemp CBD products out of Colorado.

At the start of the session, she gave some background information on CBD, including its benefits. She walked around the class, putting CBD on the participants’ shoulders, arms, and backs to reduce soreness as another instructor led the class. At the end of the class, everyone got a goodie bag with a homemade CBD brownie and a dose of CBD oil.

She said the very first class was well received. “Attendees said they felt less anxious and clear-headed or had less inflammation and pain. Combining the two is such a zen experience,” she said.

Jackson isn’t the first yogi to think of incorporating CBD into her yoga sessions, though. There have been numerous XBD yoga classes popping up all over the state in urban areas and towns like Mantua.

It is believed that CBD companies like Plus Products Inc. (CSE: PLUS) (OTCQB: PLPRF) and The Supreme Cannabis Company Inc. (TSX.V: FIRE) (OTCQX: SPRWF) applaud entrepreneurs like Melissa Jackson who are bringing CBD into everyday activities of ordinary people.
