US Beverages Company to Make CBD-Infused Drinks Using Kenyan Coffee

Cannabidiol (CBD) has taken the world by storm. For a long time, it chugged along underground, only recognized and loved by those who used cannabis. However, word of its almost otherworldly benefits spread, and it exploded into the mainstream.

Last December, the Farm Bill legalized the cultivation of industrial hemp, the plant that produces cannabidiol. Farmers, processors, and sellers were quick to corner the market, looking to cater to the immense demand for CBD products.

On Monday, the American beverage company Puration Inc. (PURA) announced that it had signed a deal with a Kenyan-based coffee producer for coffee berries. The African producer will supply PURA ground coffee beans to make CBD-infused drinks for the U.S. and European markets.

“Today, PURA is proud to announce entering into an agreement with a Fair Trade Producer of Coffee in Kenya,” the announcement stated. PURA declined to name the society it had signed with, but it said that the Kenyan farmers would benefit from higher prices.

During the announcement, PURA stated that the creation of cannabis-infused lattes was inspired by a feasibility study conducted by Goldman Small Cap Research. The study found that there existed a multi-million dollar demand driven by people keen on CBD-infused drinks.

Over the recent years, plenty of anecdotal evidence has surfaced, claiming that CBD can manage a variety of ailments from insomnia, anxiety, and depression to epilepsy. Cannabidiol has, in the past, gotten a bad rap because of the psychotropic high that cannabis induces. However, CBD is non-psychoactive, so users get the benefits without the high.

Most people who drink cannabis-infused beverages do so for CBD’s pain and anxiety-relieving properties. It has proven quite effective against chronic pain, anxiety, and stress. Cannabidiol also has properties that induce sleep, making it perfect for people with insomnia.

The announcement stated that PURA had engaged Kali Extracts to use its patented cannabis extraction process to extract the CBD from the ground coffee. It was released through the OTC Markets Group, an American financial market that provides price and liquidity information for almost 10,000 over the counter securities.

PURA has since introduced Transquili tea CBD as its new beverage under the beer, coffee, and tea initiative to be released before Christmas. The beverage company also manufactures CBD-infused sports water called EVERX. It is a leading CBD infused sports drink, with over a million dollars earned in sales over the first six months of 2019.

Analysts expect that other CBD companies, such as Lexaria Bioscience Corp. (CSE: LXX) OTCQX: LXRP) and Hemptown USA, will applaud PURA for spreading the benefits of the CBD industry beyond the nation’s borders.
