New Study Finds Florida Residents Among the Heaviest of CBD Users

For the past decade or so, CBD has slowly but surely been shedding the stigma that was once associated with it. It’s a lot more mainstream these days, and chances are you know someone who uses CBD, if you don’t use it yourself.

A CBD marketplace called DankGeek recently ran a study on CBD consumption. To do this, it counted the number of tweets about CBD from every state, starting from July 15 till August 15. A significant number of these tweets came from Miami, South Florida, followed by Colorado, Oregon, Missouri, and Connecticut. The findings led the group to dub Florida the epicenter of the exploding CBD trend. But really, can we blame them?

The Sunshine State was recently named one of the most stressed states in the country, with the greater South Florida reporting higher stress levels than any other region. The state is home to a significant population of senior citizens who are often plagued with conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other age-related diseases. Florida also hosts the third-largest population of military veterans. So you’ve got an entire region under a whole lot of stress, with a large percentage of senior citizens and war veterans who have very high chances of getting PTSD and other conditions related to mental trauma.

CBD was a godsend. Multiple studies have shown it to be as effective, and is sometimes even more effective than pharmaceuticals in treating stress and anxiety. It’s also safer and easier on the body than most medications. CBD is an effective treatment against dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s, and most of the senior citizens with these conditions have showed promising results. CBD works very well against stress and anxiety, and a significant portion of the state’s military veterans have been turning to it to help manage their PTSD.

It’s good that CBD is useful. In fact, it’s pretty great that one product can have so many beneficial uses. However, quality matters most, especially when the products are taken for medical purposes. A study done in 2017 found out that 84 products from 31 companies had different quantities of CBD than what was stated on the labels. Quality control is still in its infancy in this industry, so the products are still unregulated. As a consumer, your best and safest option would be to get a medical marijuana license and buy your CBD from local dispensaries. Alternatively, you could request a third-party lab report from the companies that sell the product.

CBD has already proven to have a host of benefits. As Floridians and the rest of the country partake in it, it’s crucial to ensure what they consume is safe and of top quality.

It would be interesting to know whether CBD industry players like Wildflower Brands Inc. (CSE: SUN) (OTCQB: WLDFF) and Willow Biosciences Inc. (CSE: WLLW) have revenues that depict the “CBD industry epicenter” status of Florida.
